Seventh grade students at Barwise Junior High signed Christmas cards for overseas U.S. soldiers who will not be home for Christmas.
It's all part of the Holiday Mail for Heroes program with the American Red Cross.
Students were asked to sign one card but some say they felt compelled to sign several.
"My uncle is overseas right now and I wanted to sign it cause he's doing something for me and our nation I just wanted to cause that's what's right," says Barwise Jr. High School 7th grader, Nathan Contrares,
"It's sad because they can't come home and visit with their children and their wife cause they're out fighting," adds Dylan Schiff, who is also a 7th graders at Barwise Jr. High.
This is the first time Barwise students have participated in the program.
If you would like to take part in it, it is not too late.
You can either stop by the local Red Cross office on 5th Street or call 940-322-8686 to get cards for yourself, or school, church group or organization to sign.
Red Cross officials ask that you have your cards signed and returned to their office by December 1st.
