WFISD Board members named Dr. John W. Frossard the lone finalist for the district's superintendent position.
Frossard currently serves in the dual role as Assistant Superintendent/Chief Human Resources Officer for Fort Bend Independent School District in Sugar Land, Texas. Fort Bend, located near Houston, is the seventh largest school district in Texas with over 69,000 students and 74 schools. The announcement, made today during a special session, begins a 21-day period required by Texas law before the Board can officially hire a candidate.
- Led a diverse district from a state rating of "Academically Acceptable" to "Recognized," as chief academic officer in Fort Bend ISD
- Raised achievement in all testing areas for African American, Hispanic and Economically Disadvantaged students in Fort Bend ISD
- Successfully passed a $69.7 million school construction bond to build the first new schools in 28 years, as superintendent of the Lenoir County Public Schools in Kinston, North Carolina
- Opened four new high schools as the first principal including a $22.5 million high school technology center in partnership with the local community college and the economic development office of the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia
