WICHITA FALLS - A Wichita Falls elementary principal was named as one of the Assistant Principals of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association.
Lori Apple, who currently serves as the Interim Principal at Haynes Elementary, was given the honor for Region 9.
According to Ashley Thomas with WFISD, Apple has served as the Assistant Principal at Burgess Elementary School and Fowler Elementary School.
Apple has 14 years of experience within the Wichita Falls Independent School District.
Apple also has the chance to be selected as the 2018 National Assistant Principal of the Year for Texas.
“These assistant principals are committed to excellence and play an integral role in the success of the schools," TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart said. "We are happy to recognize their work and dedication to Texas students."
Honorees, including Apple, will be recognized at the TEPSA Awards Reception on June 13 in Austin.
TEPSA has more than 5,900 members who direct the activities of more than 3 million PreK through 8th-grade school children.
