In an e-mail sent out tonight to Wichita Falls ISD faculty and staff, Dr. George Kazanas announced he was the lone finalist for the Midway ISD Superintendent position.  Midway ISD encompasses part of the Waco area in Central Texas.
The decision was made at a Midway ISD Board of Trustees meeting today, and today's vote starts a 21-day period before a candidate hire can officially be made.
Kazanas has been the Superintendent of Wichita Falls ISD since June 2009.  Previously, he worked as China Spring ISD in the Waco area.
"Of course he has demonstrated significant leadership in the area of curriculum instruction where I am at as well, as he has lead the district with regard to the finishing out the expenditures of the most recent bond we had. Did a great job there and unfortunately last year he lead us through tough decisions with the budget reductions in order to bring the budget in line," said Dr. Tim Powers, WFISD Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Powers says he has seen his colleague and friend do many wonderful things for the district. But since the Midway area is close to home for Kazanas, Dr. Powers knows it will be a great opportunity for him and his family.
