WFPD awards officers during Promotion and Retirement Ceremony

The Wichita Falls Police Department says it takes a special person to work in law enforcement.

Thursday the department recognized those men and women who went above the call of duty.

The WFPD awarded more than a dozen officers during a retirement and promotions ceremony.

Life saving and excellence bars were given to those who went above and beyond, and certificates of civic achievement were also presented to those who felt called to serve in Moore, Oklahoma after the tornado swept through the town.

As an officer, when such a natural disaster happens like that, you feel the need to help out your brother and sisters. I would kind of expect the same thing if some kind of natural disaster happened here,” said Officer Matthew Bailey.

KFDX wants to congratulate all those who were awarded.
