WFPD has Aggravated Kidnapping Suspect in Custody

The manhunt is over for a man wanted for the abduction and assault of a Wichita Falls woman earlier this week.

More than two dozen police and swat units surrounded a home in City View late Friday morning after receiving a tip and after a foot chase, arrested 52-year-old James Donald Kreidler.

Police first sent undercover officers into the area of Crescent Lane and City View. When they arrived they say they saw Kreidler entering a building. More police and SWAT officers were then dispatched, and the City View schools were notified and the campuses were put on lockdown.

Police say that at that point it was only a matter of time before the suspect ran out of places to hide.

"At that point and time...SWAT and everybody was activated and we got out here and after a short foot chase and then he was taken into custody," Wichita Falls Police Officer Brandie Banda explained.

Residents in the area watched in amazement as police cars and officers swarmed over their neighborhood.

"Holy crap that's a lot of cops. I honestly kind of freaked out cause, like there were people everywhere. It's weird," resident Blue Sivils told us.

Police say that catching Kreidler has been a high priority for them and they are glad to put him behind bars.

Police say the victim was abducted from her apartment at Wellington on the Lake and Kreidler drove her to Clay County where she was sexually assaulted and a home was burglarized.

She and the car were found on Highway 281 near the Archer County Line. Police arrested Kreidler on charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.
