WFPD Investigating Early Sunday Morning Murder

UPDATE: Police are looking for a heavy set, light skin, black male who may have more information about the murder, but left the scene before officers arrived.

UPDATE: Wichita Falls police now says one man is dead after an overnight shooting.

Just after 3 a.m, officers reported to the 1400 block of North Scott on a call of shots fired.

According to Sergeant John Spragins, two men who had gun shot wounds were transported to the emergency room.

There, 22-year-old Rakim Hicks of Lawton was pronounced dead.

Police say the second man transported is 24-year-old Darrion Whitaker of Wichita Falls who is still being treated.

Right now, investigators continue to comb the scene and ask witnesses for answers.

No arrests have been made at this time.


ORIGINAL: Wichita Falls police say one man was either shot or stabbed Sunday in the early morning hours.

According to Sergeant Harold McClure, officers were dispatched to the 13-hundred block of North Scott Ave. on an aggravated assault call around 3 a.m.

McClure says the victim attempted to travel away from the scene of the crime in his vehicle, but the vehicle broke down on the side of the road, and the occupants flagged down police who called AMR.

The victim was then transported to the hospital.

No word yet on his condition or if an arrest was made in the crime.
