Wichita Falls Police Officers arrested a man who they didn't know was armed at the time.

20 year old Darius J. Lopez is arrested for evading and resisting arrest, possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone and unlawful carry of a weapon.

Last night at around 9:49 pm, WFPD was dispatched to the 4800 block of Brookdale near an apartment complex to serve an arrest warrant. Police say they found the suspect, Mr.Lopez was hiding behind a dumpster. Lopez ran and in the process dropped two small bags, officers tackled Lopez and resisted officers while having his hands in his waistband.

Upon the search, police say they found a 9-millimeter Smith & Wesson on his person and the two bags he dropped tested positive for marijuana.

Police say the drug free zone charges were raised because the drugs were found near a local daycare.
