WFPD Towing Policy to Begin Next Week

Starting next week, if you're caught driving in Wichita Falls without a license or insurance, expect to walk to your next destination.

Starting Tuesday, October 15th, if you're stopped by an officer, or involved in a crash, and cannot present valid drivers license or proof of insurance, you are will be towed.

Once your car is towed, you'll have to pay a $25 fee on top of the cost of towing in order to get your car back.

WFPD Sergeant John Spragins said, "The fact is, there's a lot of people out there and we work a lot of accidents where people don't have insurance or driver's license. And if they don't have those things, they shouldn't be out driving.

Officials say lots of cities across the country are adopting policies like this. Iowa Park City Councilors passed a similar measure in July.

Wichita Falls Police Chief Manuel Borrego will address this issue Tuesday morning at the Wichita Falls City Council meeting.
