Wichita County is once again under a burn ban, and it's likely more Texoma counties will be following suit as the dry, windy fall weather continues.
County commissioners enacted a burn ban this morning, with an emergency declaration by Judge Woody Gossom.
All outdoor burning is now prohibited in the county with some limited exceptions. Welding can be done only if strict safety precautions are followed. Outdoor grilling is allowed if the grill has a cover and is on a hard surface with no nearby combustible material.
The ban will be in place indefinitely and comes as the windy and extremely dry weather continues, with lots of fuel such as brush and wheat stubble making for dangerous conditions.
