Wichita County Jail Plans Continue

WICHITA FALLS, TX - Wichita County Judge Woody Gossom and members of the law enforcement center committee met bright and early this morning to go over the plans and possible contractors to start building the new jail.

Judge Gossom says although the meeting was very broad, members were able to identify where certain functional areas will be, some office arrangements, where the IT and other electronics and security systems would go.

He said at the moment they have three possible contractors in mind to get the job done.

Those contractors are set to attend next Thursday's public meeting.

Judge Gossom said, "We have two teams that will meet in that public meeting, next Thursday to talk to the three different companies that submitted constructor manors or at risk proposals."

Judge Gossom also said that after next Thursday's meeting, the commissioners will have a much better idea on the costs and a more detailed design.

He added that the plan is to break ground next February.
