Wichita County Medical Alliance to Install Unique Playground in Hamilton Park

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX) -- Local families will soon have a new type of playground to spend the warm, sunny afternoons at in Wichita Falls.
It's being touted as a state of the art playground coming soon to Hamilton Park, thanks to the Wichita County Medical Alliance. The new playground will be the first of its kind in north Texas, providing shade above the structure and unique play equipment.
"Today we are proud that we can start this playground,"  President of WCMA Sorin Pojoga said.
The alliance raise about $175 thousand dollars, working with the city to break ground on a modern and aesthetically appealing playground. WCMA has already made their mark at Hamilton Park, planting over 100 trees in honor of local physicians who have retired.
"Having a modern play space where kids can come and be active and families can be active was really important to us," WCMA board member Chermaine Tyler said.
WCMA teamed up with the Wichita County Health Coalition with the goal to keep kids of all ages physically active.
"Kids of older ages can use it. Not just little kids who want to swing on a swing or slide on a slide but you can determine if you want to climb on it, jump on it, hang from the top part of it. Which makes it more interested for older kids also," Tyler said.
On a broader scale, past WCMA President Ania Hilmi says this is a simple element to bring families to Wichita Falls and keep them here.
"I think that bringing this cutting-edge modern playground will really help when we show families that are looking to move into Wichita Falls that we are growing," Hilmi said.
Parks and Recreation Director Jack Murphy says he's thrilled to see this unique addition coming to the city and is looking forward to the project once it is complete.
"Well it's great. It's a great location too. It's at the center of Wichita Falls in Hamilton Park, along the Circle Trail," Murphy said.
The alliance says they hope to break ground on the playground a little over a month from now and plan to complete it by the end of this year.
