The program started in November 2012 after county officials received approval for a government subsidy program.
The program reimburses homeowners who installed a storm shelter up to $3,000. The county first got approval for 100 shelters then an additional 100 after several hundred people got their names on the waiting list.
Now, county officials say no more funding is available. The county is currently contacting approved applicants to build their shelter or loose their allocation by August 1st.
Since some approved homeowners got their shelters built for a cheaper amount, Judge Gossom expects the residual money will allow about 230 shelters to be built.
