Despite the extra expenditures, city officials say the city budget still stayed within it's set amount of funds.
Since some other departments spent less than they were allocated, their left over money will cover the extra expenses.
City officials say in the end it will all even out keeping 2012-2013 fiscal year budget at 68 million dollars.
“A lot of it is really accounting issues, so we're basically not increasing the entire budget or the cost stayed within the original authorized expenditure levels,” says Wichita Falls Chief Financial Officer, Jim Dockery.
Although about 6 departments exceeded their budget here are two of the larger ones;
The MPEC went over budget by $83,000.
It's deficit came from lower revenues from event activities and will be made up by the hotel/motel reserve fund.
And the fire department had to spend extra money paying staff for overtime hours since they were down in their numbers.
They went over their budget by $140,000.
Money to cover their deficit will come from a variety of departments.
