Wichita Falls Contractor Jailed on Theft Charges

A Wichita Falls roofing contractor is behind bars after a homeowner came to police and said he never returned to make her roof repairs after she gave him a check for more than $3000 dollars.

Police filed charges of theft over $2500 dollars against David Villa, listed as the owner of David's Roofing and Concrete. His bond was set at $5,000. He also has a drug possession charge and he has a long record of previous convictions, including 3 for theft and two for burglary.

According to the affidavit, the woman paid Villa $3099 last June for repairs to the roof of her home on Pyrenees. She said it was cashed the next day, but more than two months later he still had not returned.

Police located Villa and asked him about the woman's complaint and say he admitted he cashed the check and used it  on other jobs, and that he planned to return as soon as he received payment for other jobs.

But police say since the work was never done, and he used the check for other jobs, he is guilty of theft.
