This week, they met with the Tarrant Regional Water District to try and work out a plan to build Lake Ringgold, that would be used as a third reservoir.
And Public Works Director, Russell Schreiber says they're getting closer to an agreement that would have the water district sharing the cost of the $400 million project.
“Our need for the water may be different than someone else's need for the water and how they recover that capital investment they've made is different than ours. So each party has to look at their cost, how much water they would get out of the agreement, how long it would take to recover those costs,” says Schreiber.
There is no time line for the project, but Schreiber says they'd like to start preliminary paperwork as soon as possible.
