Wichita Falls Enters Into Agreement with TxDot to Work on Mcneil and Southwest Parkway

- The intersection of Mcniel Avenue and Southwest Parkway in Wichita Falls will soon be a little easier to navigate.

City councilors approved a local project advance funding agreement with TxDot that will provide state funding for part of the Mcniel Drainage Improvement Project.

Crews will place a portion of the open channel along FM 369/Southwest Parkway into a concrete box culvert.

They'll also replace traffic signals, construct right turn lanes on westbound southwest parkway and southbound on Mcniel, and make other improvements.

The estimated cost is a little over $2 million.

The Mcniel Drainage Project will give residents a mile of new drainage will be installed underground on Mcniel from Southwest Parkway to past Cunningham Elementary on Philips Drive.

But before that work can begin, sewer lines at Moffet Avenue and Rugley Street need to be raised.

That work is under underway now and is scheduled to be complete sometime next month.
