The after effects of this week's storm is causing a bit of trouble at the Wild Bird Rescue Center.

The center has received more than 70 birds, mostly songbirds, since Monday.

Volunteers say before you pick up a baby bird on the ground, make sure the mother is not nearby and still taking care of it.

Then pick it up place it in a container with a soft cloth and bring it to the rescue center on Lake Shore near Lake Wichita Park as soon as possible.

They say if you need to keep a bird overnight, you can feed it moistened cat or dog food, but it's important that you do not give the bird any water.

Also, if you find an adult hawk or owl, do not try to pick it up. Call the rescue center to get it for you, as they can be dangerous.
