Knox County Judge Travis Floyd says, "It's going to be on on the Baylor County-Knox County line on Highway 82."
David Savage, vice president of Pioneer Green Energy Corp., says, "It's a utility scale wind project. We call it the 'Green Pastures' project. We've been working on it for the past three years."
Both say the benefits are as plentiful as the wind in west Texas.
"During the construction project, there will be a pretty big surge in employment," Savage says. "It will take several hundred people over the course of nine months to a year to build the project."
"Some of the landowners out there will be making some money off this," Floyd says.
And the counties will, too.
In Knox County's tax abatement agreement, Pioneer Green Energy Corp. will pay pilot payments in lieu of taxes.
For the first four years, they'll pay the county $1000 per megawatt hour.
That will increase to $1500 per megawatt hour a year after four years, then to $2000 in future years.
