One man is taken into custody early Friday morning after a Wichita Falls church is vandalized.

The incident was originally called out at around 2:30 a.m. as a fire at the Faith Village Church of Christ in the 4100 block of McNiel Ave.

Authorities said there was no sign of a fire when fire crews arrived, but they did find a lighter and a gas can filled with a purple liquid they believe to be flammable. The building was damaged, and several windows had been knocked out.

The Wichita County sheriff's office was called in. Officials said a man who's been seen hanging around outside the church over the last few weeks was taken into custody. Officials said he's facing criminal mischief charges.
