Woman Accused of Slamming Kitten Onto Driveway Takes Plea Deal
A woman charged with cruelty to animals appeared in court today to enter her plea for violence against a kitten. 34-year-old Therisa Seigfried earlier agreed to a plea deal for 12 months in state jail. She facaed a maximum sentence of two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
She was arrested in November in the 1100 block of Monroe. Witnesses told police they saw her pick up a small kitten by its back foot and slam it into the concrete several times.
They said the kitten was limping and had blood coming from an ear after the abuse and it was later reported the cat may be deaf now.
Officers say Seigfried admitted to abusing the animal because she was mad at a man. One of the witnesses was able to care for the kitten after the incident.
