Woman and Boyfriend Jailed on Charges of Theft from Her Mother

The daughter of a Wichita Falls woman is jailed on charges she stole art, jewelry and a mattress from her mother with the help of her boyfriend.

Police say the woman reported the theft of several items from her home on Arnold Drive and suspected her daughter and her boyfriend were responsible. She told police she asked them to return the items, but they refused.

Thirty-nine-year-old Candace Cowan is charged with theft over $1,500 and under $20,000.

Forty-six-year-old Earl Holmes Jr. is jailed on the same charge, but it is enhanced because of two previous theft charges in Wichita and Montague Counties.

The reported stolen items include a Sealy mattress valued at $3,000, a Salvador Dali print valued at $2,000, and jewelry including a wedding ring valued at $3,000.

Police say they found records showing Cowan sold the stolen jewelry and they also had a recorded conversation between Cowan and Holmes talking about where the stolen mattress and print were stored.

Cowan's bond was set at $30,000 and Holmes at $65,000.
