Woman Who Received Probation For Using Baby as Collateral is Arrested Again

A woman police say gave her baby girl to a man as collateral for a debt is back in jail after police say she gave a fake name to officers investigating a robbery report at a hotel.

23-year-old Amy Lyn Colyer received probation for child abandonment last year, but late last night was arrested at the Howard Johnson Hotel on Northwest Freeway and now faces revocation of probation.

Police say they received a report from a man, that a woman named Amy stole $100 from him and tried to stab him.
Police arrived and say a woman matching the description was getting into a taxi and when questioned she gave her name as Autumn Cummings, which police determined was false.

Her identity was established and they found she had an arrest warrant out for violating her probation on the child abandonment.

Colyer pleaded guilty to the child abandonment last year and received 5 years probation, with 2 years suspended.
Police say she also gave a fake name then, and they later discovered she had a 5-week old baby she said she left with a man she owed money to.

Doctors say the baby was malnourished and drank four bottles of Pedialyte very quickly. Colyer has several previous convictions, including prostitution.
