This time of year, many of us over- indulge in some sweet treats that might not always be the healthiest options for us.
But, there's one organization that's proven it can combat those unhealthy habits.
The YMCA believes it can help you take the first steps towards fitness with its annual Holiday Trimming campaign that started Wednesday.
During the months of December and January they'll have three different "weigh-ins," where folks can compete to lose the most weight.
Though it is a competition, officials at the YMCA say they hope it motivates you to improve your over-all lifestyle.
“It just improves not only your physical well-being, but your mental well-being. It gives you a sense of wellness, a sense of can do, it just brightens everyone,” said Noel Filer, the YMCA Advancement Director.
If you want to participate, you have until this Saturday to sign up, it costs just $10.
There will be three different weigh-in's throughout December and January.
By participating you will have a chance to win one of three Jerry's Sporting Goods gift certificates.
The top three male and female winners of the competition will receive membership deals to the YMCA.
