The Humane Society of Young County is in serious need of donations to keep its doors open.

Shelter officials say an increase in animals and a drop in donations has hurt the shelter.

And unless donations pour in soon to help care for the 228 animals there, which officials say is a record number, the facility will be forced to close next week.

So, the Humane Society of Young County is hosting a Fill the Truck fundraiser Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Graham's downtown square.

Accepted items include pet food, cat litter, cleaning supplies and monetary donations.
