Young County Jail Demolishment

The walls of the old Young County Jail will soon come tumbling down. Commissioners voted on action Tuesday. And some
Commissioners say it's needed 1 official says it's a big mistake. One block from the Young County Courthouse...
Sits the old county jail... A building county judge John Bullock sees as useful. "For the last three years, I have propose
in the budget to appropriate funds to begin some renovations to the facility to get it in shape so it could be used in an
efficient manner."

But in a recent vote of 3 to 1, commissioners decided to demolish this building. "The old jail has been vacant for
seven years.  It may not look that bad on the outside,  but looks can be very deciving."you can see the roof

Precinct 4 commissioner Jimmy Wiley says the old jail is plagued with problems. A leaky roof... Peeling paint... As well
as sewer and electrical problems. Now... The commissioner says despite the problems... This 12-thousand square foot
facility *is* being used. "Two or three years ago they started putting in some files and just anything they didn't have
anyplace to put something in... Old furniture and junk like that."

But soon... Everything inside will be moved out... And the building will be brought down.
