For the last time, Zundy Junior High students sailed the high seas at the school's last boat float.

The kids were only allowed to use cardboard, masking tape, paint and caulk, and had to make it all the way across Plum Lake without sinking. Most of the boats stayed afloat, but there were a couple of sinkers.

Next year Zundy students will be heading to the Barwise Leadership Academy. So despite this being the last year at this school, teachers say hope this tradition will carry on at the new one.

"Were are hoping to continue this project as Zundy merges with Barwise and we become the Barwise leadership Academy. So hopefully next year this activity carries on even though this is Zundy's last boat float," science teacher Jennifer Parker said.

More than 250 students participated this year. Zundy started the activity as an incentive program to help students stay focused through the end of the school year.
