The Texas/Oklahoma fair will include lots of livestock shows and some members of the media kicked off those events with some stiff competition.
The Media Showmanship showdown took place this afternoon a the J.S. Bridwell Ag Center.
Eight media personalities, including our own Bryan Rupp and Mechell Dixon, showed purebred Limousine heifers.
While everyone had fun at the expense of media personalities, coordinators say they learned a lot from this first time event.
"We're gonna tweak it and make it even better next year. But, the whole purpose behind it really, was to get the word out about agriculture. How important showmanship is. How important it is to our youth and that we support that and the Texas/Oklahoma Fair is a great way to do that," says Mike Campbell, a judge for the Media Showmanship Contest.
Mechell learned that showing livestock involves getting your hands dirty.
But in the end, she advanced to the final round of showing a quarter horse and she beat out Channel 6's Jack Lamson to win the event.
