MSU is saying goodbye to it's very first computer science teacher. Dr. Stewart Carpenter celebrated 34 years of employment with the university Monday afternoon with faculty, friends, and former students.
Over the past three decades he's seen several changes take place in the program.  When he started  the computers used were as large as the room where today's party was held.
"Over the past 34 years we've gone from main frame machines Midwestern had 12 terminals attached to that machine and slowly but surely as the PC came in and we started moving to individual machines per students," said Dr. Carpenter.
He says now that he's retired he plans to spend more time with his family-- and tackle his wife's "honey- do" list.
