An Alabama condo association's request to have a couple remove an American flag from outside their condo has sparked a heated debate on social media.
WHNT.com reports that Staff Sgt. Brandon Weir and his wife, Lauren, of Huntsville, received a note from the complex owner Monday stating that the flag violates the association's rules.
The note urged the couple to remove the flag as soon as possible to keep the community tidy, according to the report.
After Weir posted the note on the Facebook pages of several veterans support groups, the story went viral and a group of concerned citizens went to the home and held up flags in protest, the station reported.
WHNT.com's Facebook post on the story had over 2,500 "likes" as of Tuesday evening.
