The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says the first barrel was spotted near the I-85 bridge on Wednesday. A second barrel was found on Thursday.
"Definitely very gruesome, very savage act and of course we hope to get to the bottom of it and find out who's responsible," Chad McBride, the spokesman for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, said.
One of the bodies, a female, has been identified, but authorities are withholding the information until the woman's family is notified.
