The boy allegedly made threats to harm himself and others at Black Hills High School.
According to Tumwater Police, two other students heard of the suspect's intentions and spoke with police, leading to the arrest.
Thurston County juvenile prosecutor Wayne Graham said the boy had a fascination with the school shootings at Colorado's Columbine High School.
"He had done a lot of research in regards to the Columbine shootings," said Graham, "He had indicated he admired the two men involved in that."
