(KUSA)  A man wrongfully convicted of murder is making up for lost time.

For about a year Frank O'Connell has called a quiet neighborhood in Fort Collins, Colorado home.

For 27 years prior to that his home was a California prison.

"I felt like I was in prison," his son Nick says.  "I felt like my liberties were taken away because I'm living in this society where it seems nobody cares than an innocent man's life has been taken away."

Most of Frank's family admitted they thought he was guilty, except Nick.

"There was no solid evidence, whatsoever," Nick says.
