This time of year, retailers need to shed inventory, especially in electronics, to make room for new models.
"They're announcing them at the consumer electronics show in Las Vegas and so there are a lot of kind of outgoing models that would be available for discounts," said Karl Quist or priceblink.com.
But whether you make your purchase on the web or in a brick and mortar store Quist suggests researching reviews as much as price.
"We always say that you're better off getting a product that you want at a reasonable price than getting a great price on something that turns out to be something that's not exactly what you needed," Quist said.
Search engines like Google shopping and price grabber can assist with price comparisons.
But you can also add free extensions such as Priceblink to your web browser to get *automatic* price updates when you're looking at products.
Say you're looking at a coffeemaker, the browser extension will compare prices in thousands of stores and let you know where to find it the cheapest.
"The other thing that these extensions will do that's great is they will offer coupon notifications," according to Quist.
And that will potentially save you money and some leg work.
Now that you know how to save, we've searched to see what items you can save big on this month.
