Gunman at Large after Shooting at Least Three at Phoenix Office Complex
Three people were shot and wounded Wednesday, one of them with life-threatening injuries, when a gunman opened fire at a Phoenix office complex, authorities said.
The two other people had less severe injuries, police said, correcting their earlier report that all three had been critically injured.
Two or three other people were taken to hospitals for "stress-related" conditions after the incident at a complex near 16th Street and Glendale Avenue, authorities said.
Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the gunman was not in custody and that authorities were seeking an "older white male." Police said shell casings at the scene indicated that at least two weapons were used.
A police SWAT unit arrived at a home in a residential neighborhood about five miles away that authorities said was linked to the suspect. Police told NBC station KPNX of Phoenix that the man wasn't at the home and that they were awaiting a search warrant so they could enter the large house.
Thompson said the gunman was believed to have been involved in an altercation in the lobby of the complex that escalated into gunfire.
"The initial indications are that this was not a random act," he said.
