Jet Car Turns Heads

- (KXAN) The National Instruments Week conference in Austin, Texas is showing off some of the coolest developments in technology, like a jet car being used to break the land speed record.

Although this technology seems out of reach for most people, engineers say it can inspire innovative ideas for solving real-world problems.

"This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time, period," said Doug Norton, a conference attendee.

One year from now, Ed Shadle will pilot the North American Eagle in an attempt to break the current land-speed record of 763 mph.

"Especially when you go into full afterburner, the acceleration rate is dramatic," Shadle said. "It really pushes you into the seat."
