"While they were pulling weeds they heard something hitting back," said South Daytona police Lt. Dan Dietrich. "They looked over the fence and saw two large 6- to 7-foot alligators."
According to police, the owner told them he raised the animals, who are 12 and 14 years old, from eggs. However, the owner has no license or permit to raise them at his home.
There are caging and land requirements in the city, not not to mention the potential danger because of a nearby day care.
