(WMC)  The Memphis, Tennessee police department is prepared to protect downtown Memphis Saturday from a situation the city's top cop is calling a powder keg - the Ku Klux Klan rally.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong says the plan is complete.

80 to 100 members of the KKK are expected.

Police expect gang members to show up in protest, as well as other anti-KKK factions.

Everyone will be searched.  No weapons or masks will be admitted into the area of the rally.

"We're ready. We're ready," said Armstrong.  "We're basically sitting on a powder keg that can go at any time.  We just wanted to make sure that we didn't have a repeat of 1998."

The weather forecast calls for potential rain.  The permitted make-up date is Easter Sunday.

Armstrong said he will not honor that date.

"I certainly expect them to move forward with the rally regardless of the weather," Armstrong stated.

There will be roads closed and certain areas of downtown marked off.  Director Armstrong said he plans to release those plans on Friday.
