(NBC News) Word that the Federal Communications Commission is considering allowing airline passengers to make cell phone calls in flight has frequent flyers speaking out, and the reaction seems mostly negative.

There is already pressure on the F.C.C not to change the rule.

Some, like Christine Benoit think it's a great idea.

"I think that's awesome. I get bored on a plane, said Benoit.

Last month the government lifted the ban on texting, email and web surfing in flight.

That was welcomed by many flight attendants, tired of nagging passengers to shut down their phones.

Calls in fight are different.

"I can just see it, can you hear me now, aspect. No thank you, said Veda Shook, President of the Flight Attendant's Union.

Shook says planes are already too noisy and passengers are too irritable to allow phone calls.

Still, it might not happen.

Jet Blue, Delta and United all hinted that they will not make the change based on feedback from fliers.

Online petitions are already up as well, demanding Congress and the President keep the skies cell phone free.
