Secretary of State John Kerry made the case for actions against Syria during a statement from the White House.
"We know the American people are tired of war, I am too, but fatigue does not absolve us of our responsibility," Kerry said.
Kerry revealed to the American people evidence he says leaves no question the Assad regime is responsible for the recent chemical attacks.
Meanwhile, a growing bipartisan group of lawmakers is demanding President Obama seek their approval before taking action.
"The president can and should call us into a joint session, we can be here within 24 hours," says Virginia Congressman Scott Rigell.
