Southern Snow

- It snowed across much of the south Tuesday...from Mississippi to the Carolinas.

Putting the region so ill-prepared for it...Back on edge.

"We just aren't going to try anything risky"

Given what happened two weeks ago, many southerners are set to stay inside this go-round, after making a run to the grocery store like everyone else.

"we got a bunch of hamburger meat to make comfort food, some meat loaf, extra milk"

State governments are stocking up, too. Preparations are still underway for the worst that's expected Tuesday night through Wednesday..

"Our goal is to be overprepared and hopefully be underwhelmed by the storm"

In particular, though...Georgia's response is being watched to avoid repeating the debacle of two weeks ago when thousands of motorists were stranded on highways and just as many students were forced to sleep at school...

Governor Nathan Deal Monday declared a state of emergency for nearly a third of the state.

"We are making every effort to be prepared for these events"

Hundreds of school systems in not just Georgia, but across the region also decided monday to close Tuesday and Wednesday..

"My son is home from school today and doesn't really need to be. Tomorrow for sure and thursday probably"

Conditions are expected to worsen with a lot of freezing rain expected to fall on the snow that could result in widespread power outages come wednesday and more frustration for a region not use to this much winter.

This won't be over until Friday, though, when temperatures return to the 50's.
