Charnise Jones of Chesterfield, Virginia saw a $91,076.70 figure on her Dominion Virginia Power bill, listed under "current charges." It's an enormous amount of energy for one modest home to burn.
Dominion only sought to charge Jones $1,200 of the $91,000. Still, she was taken aback by the notion she could use tens of thousands of dollars worth of energy.
The company's customer service representative told her she was fortunate not to be charged the entire amount.
"'Look at it this way, Miss. Jones, at least we're not holding you responsible for the full $91,000 balance,'" Jones says she was told.
