Goodwill Industries held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Wichita Falls store.
Not only is the building bigger, but managers say soon it will help people prepare much better for their hunt for a job.
While Goodwill officials attended a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Wichita Falls store, inside, customers, like Carrie Balles, were busy shopping.
"It helps people with tight budgets afford clothes for their kids and also I like that it helps the community. We give when we outgrow stuff and it's nice to see other people do that," says Goodwill shopper Carrie Balles
But this new 55,000 square foot facility will offer more than goods.
Soon, it will offer an employment service.
"We have a Career Development Center opening up in a couple of weeks. We are going to help the community find jobs and build resumes," says Goodwill General Manager Shannon Stevens.
Crews spent the day putting together desks and chairs inside the center, which officials say will also help educate folks on how to dress for success.
"I have seen very little. And I have seen where they've been overdressed for the position, so what we're hoping to do is depending on what type of employment the person is looking for, is help them identify what clothes will be appropriate for that type of staff, if it takes us going out into our store and looking like...this and this would be appropriate for this type of job," says Tia Murry
Goodwill will hold a grand opening tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the new store at 4609 Southwest Parkway.
And managers say shoppers can enjoy food, drinks and an hourly prize giveaway.
The Community Development Center will not be open for several more weeks but the store's new pickup service for donations is up and running.
