A Texoma Democratic candidate disqualified from the November election because he voted in the Republican primary has now resigned his position as mayor of Newcastle. Steve Sosinski, who lists his titles as mayor, fire chief, and a municipal judge of Newcastle, was on the democratic ballot in may for Young county Pecinct 3 Commissioner. But he voted in the republican primary, so he can not be on the ballot. That leaves only incumbent republican Stacey Rogers on the ballot. Disqualified candidates are also ineligible as write-in candidates. A city official told us Sosinski's resignation as mayor will be effective after the council meeting next month. At that time mayor pro tem Jerry Short will take over until an interim mayor is appointed. The Graham Leader reported Sosinski said he resigned because he asked for help but got little support from the community.
