The number of police officers killed in the line of duty declined by about 20-percent this year.
According to a new report by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 127 federal, state and local officers have died on the job, so far, this year.
By comparison, last year there were 165 fallen police officers. And this year's number is the lowest since 2009.
Texas had the highest number of fatalities at 10, followed by Georgia with 8 and Colorado and Maryland with 6 each.
The majority of the officers were city and county law enforcement and were either the victims of a shooting or a traffic related accident.
