Oklahoma Fugitive Now Behind Bars in Archer County Jail

A fugitive from Oklahoma who lead Texas authorities on a manhunt is now behind bars.

Archer County Sheriff Staci Beesinger says Oklahoma authorities came to Holliday and when they attempted to arrest 30-year-old Daniel Matthews from a residence in Holliday he took off into a wooded area.

The sheriff says that was around 2pm Monday.

Around 7:30pm Monday Daniel Matthews, who was wanted on a felony drug warrant out of Cotton County surrendered to authorities.

The Archer County Sheriff's Office, Holliday Police Department and DPS helped out in the search, they had called for the dogs out of Allred, but Matthews surrendered before the dogs arrived.

Matthews was treated for ant bites at United Regional before being booked into the Archer County Jail Monday night. 

He will be held until he is extradited back to Oklahoma.
