Employees at American Medical Response are accustomed to responding during an emergency.
And while a recent emergency did not require hustling someone to the hospital or administering stitches on-site, it did involve spreading a lot of Christmas cheer in a short amount of time.
It's not everyday you see santa riding in an ambulance but this emergency required it.
Santa teamed with American Medical Response employees to deliver Christmas presents to Central Christian Church.
And the gifts will go to more than 40 children who did not have sponsors during Faith Mission Homeless Shelter's Christmas Adopt A Child program.
"This is a huge.. a huge stress relief for us to be able to do this and give back and just enjoy the Christmas season," says Lewis Skinner, a paramedic at A.M.R.
"Anytime someone calls 911 their day is automatically bad. Nobody likes to see the ambulance and when we can reach out the community like this we get kids gifts, food drive or whatever it makes us feel better and it makes people realize it's not about us just running calls and stuff like that. We legitimately care about or patients and want to see them have a good Christmas for the more unfortunate people," says Kyle Silk, an EMT at A.M.R.
But those families are not longer unfortunate.
According to Faith Mission, the parents of nearly 270 children will have presents this year.
And shelter officials say it's all because of Christmas spirit of giving.
"This just says that Texoma is very generous and their hearts are very big and very loving and kind and I'm so proud to live here," explains Tracie Wingo, coordinator for Faith Mission's Christmas Adopt A Child program.
Faith Mission officials say A.M.R. stepped in just in time to help this year's Christmas Adopt A Child Program.
Earlier this week, more than 40 children had not been adopted.
But late yesterday AMR employees went shopping for those kids, wrapped presents until almost midnight and delivered the gifts to Central Christian Church today.
And their delivery took place just two hours before parents started arriving to pick them up.
This lighter version of the old deep-fried favorite is delicious!
