Black is charged with capital murder in the death of the Wichita Falls native in April of last year.
The prosecutor alleges Loper's ex-boyfriend had a fixation on her and was waiting for her when she came to work that morning. He told jurors yesterday Black tried to shoot Loper, but the gun malfunctioned so he beat her to death.
According to co-workers, Loper usually arrived for work around 6 each morning. The detective testified tollway tag data for the morning of her death shows her car went through a Dallas North tollway station in Plano at 6:09 that morning, and exited in Frisco several minutes later. Another officer found Loper's body in a field in Frisco the next day.
Prosecutors are also expected to show jurors alleged suicide notes Black wrote before jumping off the rim of the Grand Canyon three days after Loper's death.
