UPDATE: The body found in the pickup truck has been identified as 27-year-old Christopher Ryan Smoak.
Funeral arrangements are currently pending.
UPDATE: From the Wichita Falls Police Department
On 08-11-17, just before 8am, WFPD officers and 1st Responders were dispatched to a major one vehicle accident scene in the 1300 blk of N Scott behind the Shady Lady. A City of Wichita Falls Sanitation worker had arrived at that location to empty the dumpster when he discovered the wrecked vehicle and called it in.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Early indications are that the vehicle, a black Ford F-250, was traveling NW in the 1000 blk of N Scott when it left the roadway and proceeded through a heavily wooded area. The vehicle then struck the dumpster behind the Shady Lady and came to rest against a nearby fence. The accident is still under investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.
Wichita Falls police are investigating a fatal accident off Old Iowa Park Road this morning.
Around 7:50, officers reponded to a check welfare call at 1324 North Scott Avenue.
There police say they found an F-150 in a thicket of trees, with the driver inside unresponsive with extensive injuries to the face.
