Wilco Manufacturing has a problem, but some say it's a good problem to have.
The company makes equipment for the oil and gas industry, and because of growing demand, they need more space.
Haliburton, another giant in the oil and gas industry, also needs more space.
Seeing an opportunity to help both companies grow, Lyle Roggow with the Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation found a solution.
"We've actually moved Haliburton, or are in the process of moving Haliburton's inventory to another location in the community which is really more palatible for their needs as well," explained Roggow.
Haliburton will move part of its operation to a new sight in Marlow, and Wilco will occupy the space left behind at the facility in Duncan.
With 50 thousand square feet more to operate, Wilco needs workers.
"We're in that mode of having to attract individuals who are into machining, welding, and fabrication skills," said Roggow, "we're trying to attract more of those individuals to our community."
Not only is Wilco Manufacturing the beneficiary of some good economic timing, but the City of Duncan will be as well.
"The wonderful thing", explained Roggow, "is we do see some housing development that is occuring. We also see a brand new hotel that is in the process of being built right now. So those are all positive good things that you want to see a for a community to grow."
Because of the recent expansions, Roggow said Duncan's unemployment rate is around 5%, almost half of the State average.
Roggow added this kind of expansion wouldn't be possible without the community's support of both Haliburton and Wilco Manufacturing.
"80% of new jobs comes from taking care of your existing businesses and industry," said Roggow, "That has been very true for us in our community."
Roggow said he hopes to have both expansion projects complete by the first of February.
Also, because of the current strength of the oil and gas industry he said Duncan's economic outlook should only get better over the next 10-15 years.
